Getting Started: Get Your CIPR

Every LLQP student must have a Canadian Insurance Participant Registry (CIPR) number before beginning a new program.
Create your CIPR account here: Get your CIPR Number. Keep this number safe, it’s required for your certification exams and provincial licensing.

Complete Your Certification Exams

  • Certification exams are available 24/7
  • You need a passing grade of at least 60% for each
  • You have up to 4 attempts per exam. If you fail all 4 attempts of any exam, you must re-register and restart the entire LLQP Program
  • After you pass all of your certification exams, BCC updates your CIPR record, enabling you to register for the provincial licensing exam. There may be some wait times to register for your provincial examination depending on the province you reside in.

Write Your Provincial Licensing Exams

  • Book directly with whoever administers the exams for the regulator in your jurisdiction
  • Confirm if your province offers online or in-person exams

Apply for Your License

  • Once you pass your provincial exam, you can apply for your life and/or Accident & Sickness licenses through your provincial insurance council or regulator
  • You may need a sponsor from a qualifying insurance provider

LLQP FAQs

Can I change from Full LLQP to just A&S?

Program changes are not permitted. Once you have purchased the full LLQP program you must complete the entire program.

How long do I have to complete the course?

You have one year from the date of registration to complete the LLQP course.

Can I get an extension on the course?

LLQP course extensions are not possible.

What do I do if I can't complete the full course in time?

The LLQP course expires after 1 year. If it expires, you will need to reenroll in the course and start from the beginning. Previous progress cannot be transferred over.

FP Accreditation does it affect my LLQP registration

No, FP accreditation does not affect your LLQP registration. These are separate credentials with different governing bodies.

Where is the LLQP textbook located in my course

You can find the PDF textbooks in the A modules of your course, in the Resources tab.

Can I get CE credits for LLQP

If you complete your LLQP program before December 7, 2026 you will earn 30 A&S credits and 30 Life credits with AIC. Beyond December 7th 2026, this course will no longer be accredited for CE.

How long does it take to complete this course

There is about 20-30 hours of study material for each unit, but each student works at a different pace. Some may complete it in a couple of weeks, and some take the whole year.

When will I be able to write my provincial exams/when do I get certified

You will be able to book your provincial exams after you pass all required certification exams in your course. After completion, it takes about 1 business day to get certified. We will send you an email confirming your certification.

Is there a calculator in the course/what type of calculator do I need

There is no calculator built in to the course. You will need a simple calculator, not a scientific one.

Can I use notes/textbook in certification exams

Please use an online program for notes, not paper & pen.

Do you have a physical textbook I can buy

Yes, we have physical textbooks available for a fee. Please contact our support line to place your order.

Will this let me practice in all of Canada

The LLQP Common Law will let you practice in every province but Quebec. Once you have completed your LLQP Common Law, you will need to purchase and complete the Ethics (Civil Code) Top Up to practice in Quebec.
